Clinical Therapy Services
Dr. Steph and staff practice from a holistic and strength-based approach.
Therapy Approach
Providers here collectively operate from a person-centered approach. We see patients as the experts of their lives and find that a nondirective, empathic stance that empowers and motivates patients is most effective.
We believe no single approach is the right one for every individual, and provide an integration of modalities including Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT) using a Strength-Based lens, as well as components of Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), amongst other research-backed modalities. We work closely with patients in order to establish a strong alliance based upon mutual trust and respect, together building a therapeutic environment in which patients can feel safe and understood.
PsychologyWorks, PLLC serves to provide individual therapy to a diverse population, across the lifespan, addressing issues including neurodiversity (ADHD and Autism), chronic illness, depression, anxiety, relational issues, LGBTQIA+ concerns such as sexuality and gender identity, with staff expertise in a wide range of psychological disorders. We provide individual, family, and group therapy. Dr. Steele-Wren also specializes in psychological testing and evaluation services.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from my visit?
We know meeting with a mental health specialist can be intimidating and often patients do not know what to expect, but we encourage you to express those potential fears with us as your providers so that we can make the experience of therapy something you look forward to. Patients have described our providers as laid back and warm, but also straightforward with a good sense of humor.
Do psychologists prescribe medication?
No, psychologists are not medical doctors with prescribing rights. However, we can always provide referrals to those professionals who can prescribe medication such as your primary care physician, psychiatrists, and nurse practitioners who focus on treating psychological disorders.
Do you offer teletherapy?
We are offering remote teletherapy, but we typically require your initial appointment to be in-person to ensure telehealth services are appropriate for your unique needs.
Do you work with LGBTQIA+ issues?
Yes, Dr. Steele-Wren identifies as bisexual and welcomes all genders and sexualities to her private practice. Our other staff are also LGBTQ-affirming folks, truly.
What is your cancellation policy?
Since we reserve time for you and only receive reimbursement when patients show for their appointments, you must cancel/reschedule appointments 48 hours in advance, or your card on file will be charged the rate of $100, which is on par with the typical noshow rates of other medical offices. For testing appointments, due to them being several hours long, the deposit is non-refundable without an extenuating circumstance.
Please view our full “No show/late cancellation policy” HERE.
What is your financial policy?
PsychologyWorks, PLLC requires all patients to keep a valid credit or debit card on file. Your card on file will be charged expected patient costs (e.g. your copay) at the time of your appointment. A $100 deposit is required to schedule psychological testing and patients must agree for their card to be charged the final balance before the final report is released.
